The course will examine the development of Bertrand Russell’s thinking, both as an academic philosopher focused on logic and language, and as a public intellectual focused on war and peace. Students will examine published writings, archival material, and audio-visual recordings made by Russell. The course is also open to majors in political science, history or mathematics who are interested in particular aspects of Russell’s work. The Annual Russell Society meeting will be held at CCSU in May 2017,and students may present their work at poster or presentation sessions.
